Feedback is one of the most powerful tools a coach can use to guide candidate growth. When delivered with intention and clarity, feedback fosters reflection, encourages self-assessment, and builds confidence. In the CTI coaching model, effective feedback is not about evaluation. It is about promoting insight and supporting progress toward professional goals.
According to the CTI Coaching Standards, reflective coaches who provide meaningful feedback:
• Use evidence-based language that is specific, objective, and aligned to the candidate’s goals • Balance affirming feedback with prompts for reflection and growth • Create a safe environment for receiving and responding to feedback • Encourage self-reflection and next steps through questioning and support
When feedback is clear, timely, and rooted in trust, it becomes a catalyst for sustained learning and continuous improvement.
